or Double Eleven（Double 11 shopping carnival）

Single's Day is an unofficial festival, which is popular on the Internet and among the people.There are many opinions about its origin, and it is widely recognized that it originated from Nanjing University. In 1993,four senior students in Nanjing University held “sleeping talk” in the dormitory every night. The theme of the talk was to discuss how to get rid of the bachelor's state. They came up an idea to organize some activities on the upcoming November 11, named “Single's day”. The four ones in 11.11 symbolize “bare branches”, a Chinese slang for bachelors. Since then the Single's Day gradually become an interesting campus culture in many universities. Many students confess feelings to that special one in heart on this day.With a group of students saying goodbye to the campus, this festival has been gradually brought into the society. Since about 2010, online retaiers have transformed the holiday, also known as “Double 11”,into an epic online shopping carnival similar to Cyber Monday in America.
